Finally, the ability to measure distance with your iPhone! Sonic Ruler allows you to instantly and precisely take measurements using a microphone and an earphone. Measurements can be taken with precision up to the length of your earphone cord.
Using Sonic Ruler is easy. Simply point the left earphone at the microphone and press the measure button and that’s it! The distance between the earphone and the microphone will instantly be displayed at the top of the screen.
How does Sonic Ruler work?
Sonic Ruler uses a unique algorithm to emit a high frequency sonic pulse that is received by the microphone. Given the know speed of sound (approximately 1125 ft/s), the distance the sonic pulse has traveled can be computed by multiplying the speed of sound by the amount of time the sound has been traveling. Using this calculation, Sonic Ruler instantly computes the precise distance of your earphone from the microphone and displays this information.

**iPhone users: it is recommended that you use PLAIN earphones/headphones WITHOUT an in-line microphone (the earphones that came with your iPhone have an in-line microphone)**
**iPod Touch users: you MUST use this application with an external microphone (this app must have a microphone to work)**
